Endura Takes a Step Back in Time

An Endura grease interceptor from drainage specialist Hunter Plastics is proving a practical, straightforward and cost-effective solution to blocked sinks in the kitchens of one of Britain's busiest museums. The Endura is helping prevent grease accumulation from causing foul water blockages from the busy kitchens' drainage system at the Black Country Living Museum.

The Black Country Museum in Dudley offers visitors a chance to experience a flavour of life in the area which became known as "The Workshop of the World" during the Industrial Revolution. Buildings from the period have been moved, brick-by-brick to the museum and these, coupled with live demonstrations of some of the trades which made the Black Country famous, make it a popular tourist attraction with visitors from all over the globe. Every year thousands visitors come through the gates, many of whom eat in the Museum's cafŽ.

When sinks in the Museum's kitchens started to continuously become blocked, the maintenance team called in local plumbing engineer Mick Foster of PlumbGas. He immediately identified the problem as being grease being discharged into the drains down the kitchen's sinks. "I suggested to the museum that they install an Endura as I had heard that they were a straightforward and cost-effective way to deal with a grease management problem," Mick comments. "I installed the Endura above ground and it was dead easy to fit. Because it was so quick and simple to install it kept disruption in he kitchens to an absolute minimum so the client was happy." The museum's maintenance team has put in place a planned programme of maintenance to keep the Endura working efficiently, allowing the kitchens to continue operating at optimum capacity.

The guiding principle of the Endura's concept and design is ease of installation, use and maintenance - the total solution for grease management. Unlike other systems on the market, the Endura grease interceptor is supplied complete and ready to install as a one-piece moulded plastic tank, ensuring that it will remain leak-free during its lifetime.

It is considerably lighter and less bulky than alternative systems, so installation is quick and simple for one man to install and requires minimal remedial works. Manufactured from tough nylon-reinforced plastic, Endura is easy to clean and hygienic since it will not rust or corrode like metal interceptors and because it is so effectively sealed, no odours escape.

For design and installation queries, Hunter's team of plumbing design engineers can offer advice and technical support.
