Highflo at Hong Kong University
Hunter Plastics' high capacity rainwater systems have proved themselves ideally suited to Hong Kong's monsoon climate. The high capacity Highflo PVC-U system has recently been installed on a Tilden pre-engineered for Hong Kong University, following its successful performance for Tilden on contractors' accommodation during construction of Hong Kong's new airport at Chek Lap Kok.
With no space to build out, Hong Kong University decided to build up, commissioning a pre-engineered, two storey extension to be erected on top of the existing three storey building. The extension provides significant additional facilities including lecture rooms, research rooms and offices.
Their product director George Harvey specified the Hunter rainwater system and comments: "This building has a large roof area and needs a highly efficient and robust rainwater system, particularly in view of Hong Kong's high rainfall and stormy winds. We had already used Highflo on a 120,000 m2 construction site ‘camp' at Chek Lap Kok and knew it could handle the climate."
